Created on October 1st, 1996 alongside 5 other states under the regime of General Sani Abacha, the oil-rich state in the Niger Delta region has been treading the path of continuous development as successive leaders keep putting in their best. In a chat with reporters, Comr. Ebilade Ekerefe speaks on achievements, and the admirable qualities of the current Governor, Douye Diri, an interview session has shown.

Yesterday, the National Spokesman of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Comr. Ebilade Ekerefe spoke with journalists in his office (in Yenagoa, the state’s capital) about the level of development recorded in Bayelsa state since creation, harping on the efforts of the current administration to make the state great as it clocks 25 tomorrow.

In the video shared on his Facebook profile, the Socio-political Activist stated that the federal government would do well to be more supportive, even as he described the Governor, Douye Diri as ‘Champion of Inclusivity’.

“The Governor is a champion of inclusivity. He believes the only way we can develop this place is that there must be peace and unity among Bayelsans. You know previously the politics of acrimony, bitterness, backbiting, envy and jealousy has distorted the development of our state – what the current administration is doing is breaking out of that norm by setting a new agenda for the state, and I commend the governor because he is in the right trajectory

“You could see that virtually all stakeholders in Bayelsa state irrespective of political divide is very much pleased and comfortable with the governance approach of His Excellency, the Governor of Bayelsa State”.
